Show your work

Every number traces back to a roadside record.

A brake out of adjustment in one state and a speeding ticket in another end up in different BASICs. TruckPro tags each violation with the category it counts toward, so you can see why a percentile moved and which inspection to look at.

  • Violation code, unit and out-of-service status, as FMCSA recorded them
  • The BASIC each one counts toward
  • Linked from the category, so “why?” is one tap away

Move a percentile. Watch the score respond.

This explorer uses the published TruckPro score v1 formula with made-up numbers for a general property carrier. In the app, your real percentiles fill it in.

55th pct · threshold 80
20th pct · threshold 80
0th pct · threshold 80

Illustration only, with made-up percentiles. In this example, a percentile at or above its threshold is treated as an FMCSA alert, which caps that category below 50. In the app, alert status comes from FMCSA data. The TruckPro score is not an FMCSA rating and does not predict FMCSA action.

Honest by design

A score you can actually trust, because it shows its work.

Safety data is confusing enough. TruckPro never hides where a number came from, never fills a gap with a guess, and never pretends to be something it is not.

Read how the score works
  • Not an FMCSA rating

The TruckPro score is our own summary. Each category still shows its FMCSA-style percentile, threshold and alert.

  • Missing means N/A

An unavailable percentile is never treated as zero. With too little data, we show no total at all.

  • Source and date on everything

Every category says whether it is FMCSA-published or a TruckPro estimate, and when it was computed.

  • Alerts are never hidden

A category with an FMCSA alert is capped below the healthy range, so it cannot look fine in the total.

The six categories

What TruckPro tracks, and the thresholds that matter.

FMCSA’s Safety Measurement System ranks carriers in BASIC categories. Crossing the intervention threshold for your carrier type can put you on FMCSA’s radar. Lower percentiles are better.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

What is TruckPro Safety Carma?

TruckPro Safety Carma is a web and mobile app for trucking carriers. It reads your public FMCSA safety data, gives you one 0–100 TruckPro score, explains each of the six BASIC categories in plain English, and shows the exact roadside inspections and violations behind every number.

Is the TruckPro score an FMCSA safety rating?

No. The TruckPro score is TruckPro’s own summary of your BASIC percentiles. FMCSA does not publish an overall score, and the TruckPro score is not a safety rating, a fitness determination or a prediction. Each category still shows its FMCSA-style percentile, intervention threshold and alert status.

How is the TruckPro score calculated?

Each BASIC percentile is compared to its intervention threshold for your carrier type. A 0th percentile counts as 100, the threshold counts as 50, and the 100th percentile counts as 0. A category with an FMCSA alert is capped below 50. The categories are then combined with fixed weights. If too little data is available, TruckPro shows no total instead of guessing.

Where does the data come from?

From public FMCSA and U.S. DOT datasets, including the Safety Measurement System (SMS), roadside inspections, violations, crashes, census, insurance and operating authority records. Passenger percentiles are FMCSA’s published values. Property-carrier and HazMat percentiles are TruckPro estimates computed monthly, and are labeled that way.

How often is it updated?

FMCSA publishes SMS results monthly. TruckPro refreshes carrier data daily and recomputes BASIC percentile estimates monthly, and every category shows its source and computed date.

Can I sign up today?

TruckPro is in private beta. Each USDOT number needs an invite code. Request beta access and we will send one, or create your account right away if you already have a code.

Does TruckPro show driver names?

No. FMCSA does not publish driver names or CDL numbers, so TruckPro does not show or guess them. The Drivers view lists violations charged to the driver on each inspection, with the power unit involved.

Is there a mobile app?

Yes. The TruckPro mobile app, available to beta organizations, shows your score ring, all six categories with thresholds and alerts, inspection evidence, and team invites. Fleet (by VIN) and Drivers views are currently on the web dashboard.
